Rex Malcolm

A cunning "super-scientist turned crook" who attempts to loot the banks of Metropolis with the aid of a diabolical machine whose "sub-sonic vibrations" render everyone in the vicinity unconscious, only to be apprehended by Superman in September 1957. Malcolm's capture comes as the culmination of an elaborate ruse—devised by Superman with the aid of the Metropolis Police Department—in which a police lieutenant named Winters poses as the inventor of a "green ray" capable of exercising a deleterious effect on Superman as part of an overall scheme to lure Malcolm into the open so that he may be easily apprehended (S No. 116/1: "The Ray That Changed Superman").
