Bloodmorel is a dreaded fungus from the Scarlet Jungle of Krypton, which grows in the blood of infected and causes fever, hallucinations, overexertion, and in 92% of cases, death.
In September 1985, Clark Kent was infected by this fungus which grew steadily worse until he lost control of his powers and he sensed his death was immenient. Not wanting to pitied in his delerium, he fled to the American rural south where finally collapsed near a swamp.
However while in the final stages of the infection, Swamp Thing found Clark and managed to stop the infection and cure him.
