A United States town which is "off limits to Superman"—where images of Superman are confiscated as "Superman contraband" and speaking well of Superman is a violation of the stringent "anti-Superman laws"—simply because Bruce Cyrus, the town's otherwise well-intentioned mayor, has an irrational hatred of the Man of Steel. Ultimately, however, Superman persuades Mayor Cyrus that his grudge against him is unfounded, and before long the tyrannical anti-Superman statutes have been repealed and "the town that hated Superman" has become a thing of the past (S No. 130/3, Jul 1959: "The Town That Hated Superman!").
