An alias employed by Clark Kent, the man who is secretly Superman, when he finds himself unexpectedly incarcerated in a small-town insane asylum after an encounter with Red Kryptonite and wants to avoid revealing his true identity to the superintendent and staff. The name Cal Ellis is actually a play on Superman’s Kryptonian name, Kal-El (S No. 163/2, Aug 1963: “The Goofy Superman!â€) (TGSB). (See Happy Acres State Mental Rehabilitation Center)
